I have practiced employment law exclusively throughout my legal career. As a former management-side attorney and in-house counsel, I bring a unique perspective to employee representation. I know the mindset and litigation strategies of the opposition, and I use that knowledge to achieve the best possible outcomes for employees.
At Shellist Lazarz Slobin, I help employees navigate challenging situations in the workplace and protect their rights under the law. I handle a variety of employment law claims under state and federal laws, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act, as well as common law claims, such as breach of contract. I also counsel employees on a range of employment matters, including severance agreements, employment agreements, and non-compete agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, I worked in the Labor & Employment section of Bracewell, a Houston-based defense firm. While there, I represented employers in litigation involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of non-compete agreements, and other employment-related claims. I also advised clients on terminations, workplace policies, and employment and separation agreements. I then served as in-house counsel for Abbott (formerly St. Jude Medical), where I prepared and managed employment agreements for a multi-state sales force, advised managers on employment law issues, and conducted internal training on employment laws and company policies.
I received my J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where I served as an editor of The Review of Litigation. I also served as an intern to The Honorable James R. Nowlin in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Prior to law school, I worked as a high school English teacher in Osaka, Japan through the Japanese Exchange and Teaching program.
I have represented clients in state and federal court, in arbitrations, and in claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). My experience on both sides of the docket has reinforced my passion for helping employees understand their rights under the law and vigorously defending their interests. I am fortunate to work with an immensely talented team of attorneys at Shellist Lazarz Slobin who share that passion.
