I grew up in the small town of Shepherd, Texas and graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas at Dallas. I obtained my law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. During law school, I was an active member of Moot Court and served as community service chair of the Black Law Students Association where I mentored high school students and volunteered at numerous community events. I also interned with the Honorable Frances H. Stacy, the Office of the Texas Attorney General, and the University of Houston’s Office of the General Counsel.

As an Associate at Shellist Lazarz Slobin, I primarily represent employees who have experienced workplace discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in violation of federal and state laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. I handle wage and hour violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act and assist clients seeking unemployment benefits through the Texas Workforce Commission. I also advise clients on severance and non-compete agreements.

I am humbled by the opportunity to advocate for my clients faced with stressful circumstances involving their livelihoods and the way in which they provide for their families. I will patiently explain your rights, listen to your concerns, and vigorously represent you in the administrative process, settlement negotiations, and in court. Furthermore, I assist employers in developing and implementing effective anti-discrimination and harassment practices and policies that promote a healthy and productive work environment.

I am licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the United States Southern District of Texas. I am an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (“NELA”) Houston chapter. I enjoy mentoring aspiring attorneys and volunteer with the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (“JIOP”) as a 2015 alumna. If you have been wronged by your employer or would like to ensure that your business is in compliance with state and federal workplace laws, please contact Shellist Lazarz Slobin today.
