Texas employment law attorney Martin A. Shellist is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law in Houston. He founded our employment civil litigation firm in March 1994 along with Mark G. Lazarz. Mr. Shellist handles lawsuits regarding labor and employment in state and federal courts in Texas and across the U.S. Examples of cases he has won for clients have included overtime pay lawsuits, a lawsuit against a restaurant that was keeping part of their waiter’s tips, and a lawsuit reinstating a county worker to her job after she had been fired following a whistleblower incident. Mr. Shellist is frequently called upon to speak for CLE (continuing legal education) courses and human resource seminars on matters such as discrimination and sexual harassment in employment law. He serves as a consultant to local and regional companies regarding labor and employment matters. He has held leadership positions in professional organizations, including serving as president of the Houston Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas -- Labor and Employment Division.
